After working on Habitat for Humanity International projects in Latin America, Anna developed an intense curiosity for the Spanish language and became involved in the Latino community not only in Latin America, but also at home in the U.S. It was with this background that Anna returned to academia for postgraduate work in Spanish. Graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, first with a Graduate Certificate in Translating and Translation Studies, and then with a Master of Arts in Spanish, she formally acquired the tools of a professionally trained translator and interpreter. With her combination of academic training, practical experience, and an understanding of people and culture, Anna launched her freelance company, Gallant Language Consulting (Gallanttranslator.com).
In addition to her work with Gallant Language Consulting, Anna enjoys sharing her bilingualism and biculturalism by volunteering for the Charlotte Community Health Clinic and Hábitat para la Humanidad, El Salvador.
